My Nordstrom Sale Purchases [So Far]

Hey guys! Here is my online purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! To explain why its all online orders - Sadly I live about 4 hours (one way) from a Nordstrom location. To shop the event I have to make all my purchases via the online website. I love Nordstrom does free shipping and returns to help customers like me who live afar but love the brand - the fulfillment center is shipping items quicker than ever and in case of returns, they'll instantly do restocks too!

Shoes: I always try to buy at least one pair of shoes during the Nordstrom Sale for the price. Getting new styles on deep discount is a win-win for me.

This year the sneakers I wanted sold out (but I'm waiting for restocks!). I grabbed these Birkenstock Sandals because I’ve never owned a pair of Birks and really wanted to see how comfortable the shoes are. These brown loafers are from Dr Scholls and I KNOW - isn’t that a older person brand…? But they have comfort fit foam soles and I’m hoping these will be the ‘it’ shoe for dressing up while I’m in Japan! I also caved and grabbed a pair of the Steve Madden Mules cause in past years this style has been a top seller. I also grabbed a pair of Barefoot Dreams Socks - I’ve never owned a pair and would love to see what the hype is about!

Dresses: Now the green tank dress from Moon River is actually not in the Anniversary Sale - I wanted to grab this up for my Japan trip and I hope the dress fits for my vision I have in mind. I also grabbed up this other Moon River dress in this lovely bronze-like gold color - I’m truly so excited to see how this fits. The mid-length leaf pattern dress is a bit of a wild card but I like the ‘idea’ of this dress for autumn winter with a trench coat. And lastly the chocolate color Nordstrom Dress is so lovely and I’m excited to see how it fits too with a pair of knee length boots.

Tops: Tops I went a little wild. The green Zella top I was so excited for but sadly it might be a return due to the sleeves. I’ll have to see in person if I like the fit. The Red sweater from Madewell is so pretty and comes in LOTS of colors. I wanted a red sweater for Christmas and this might be the one!

The longline Top Shop cardigan I saw on an influencer and I will admit (she influenced me) so I hope it works out! Treasure and Bond is always a favorite of mine so I ordered 2 turtle necks (green and off white). This other Longline Cardigan from Open Edit I saw last minute and felt “why not”. If the longline TopShop is a fail this one is under $50 and is very pretty too. Free People always sells out quickly in sweaters but shockingly I was able to grab up a chunky mustard/pumpkin color tone. Its very ‘Fall-like’ and I’m crossing my fingers its a keeper. Another adorable Madewell sweater cardigan and I’m thinking this will be cute paired with some tailored pants and has that 'style' of sweater I was wanting for some of my midi-skirts. Lastly a chocolate brown Top Shop half zip sweater. I wanted this in another color way but it sold out and I’m thinking the brown tone might workout for me.

For now, this is all I plan to order. Once all my items arrive I’ll showcase them all on LTK Page and Instagram Page for Public Access shoppers. Depending on the amount of free time I have in NC I might go in person to a Nordstrom to check for the sneakers I wanted and to see if there’s anything different that wasn’t in stock online.

Let me know which is your favorites from my selections!

Don’t forget to follow my Instagram for the try on - items are arriving as early as tomorrow! YAY!

Autumn- Winter 2021 Trends Report

Ah, Autumn. The crisp cool chill of the morning, the crunching sound of leaves as you walk, and the warm fragrant smell of cinnamon, apple, and spice. All you need is the perfect cozy outfit for the ultimate autumnal aesthetic. Today’s blog post is all about the trends for Autumn/Winter fashion. These trends are all over the A/W runway shows and a sure sign the retailers will be recreating these looks and aesthetics for their shop windows.

I also wanted to mention the research I did for these trends was through Harpers Bazar, Vogue, and looking a luxury retailers + runway shows.

At the bottom of this post will be a shopping widget where you can see some of the affordable options I found of each trend from popular retailers.

Trend 1: Sticking with the Classics
All the trends you know are timeless and never falling out of style - perfect for Autumn. This is those little black dresses, the classic long  trench coats, wool knits, and boots.

Trend 2: Tailored Made
There’s a huge ‘tailored’ style that started trending awhile back and is currently on the runways. From matching pants and blazers, tailored suit coats, pleated paints with silk button down shirts, also don’t shy away from the matching skirt and jacket. The power suits are here.

Trend 3: Apres SKI
Apres ski is an easy and fun look to do in the winter months. Its also a style you will be able to find literally anywhere this winter. From fun knitted pattern sweaters with the indoor or outdoor ski lodge feel. If bright reds and navy blues aren’t your thing - winter whites and soft grays will work well too. Also don’t forget the fun wool ski socks, hats and mitten, and furry slippers are perfectly acceptable for the apres ski look!

Trend 4: Knitwear With A Kick
Knitwear is always in style each winter but this year try grabbing up the balloon sleeve knits or the knits with pomp pomp or sequins. If you’re feeling really brave, a knit midi skirt or pants. That extra kick is hot and trending. Also oversized knit sweaters with leggings and boots. For colors it’s a cross the board from bright jewel tones or dulled down neutrals.

Trend 5: Roaring Cool Girls 20’s
This trend is all about the Roaring 20’s nod but in a cool girl modern take. Flapper style dresses with lace detailing but a ‘cool girl’ leather jacket or biker boots. Fun sequins, pearls, and other details are included. It’s a fun look where you can mix and match eras plus play it up with that 20’s-80’s-90’s rich girl vibe.

Trend 6: Puffers
Puffer coats are here again for 2021. These coats also give a great nod to the ski aesthetic but the difference is any color is acceptable, and the size of the puff is whatever you’re comfortable with - also puffer style handbags are trending too!

Trend 7: Patterns
The patterns for this A/W is bold and commanding attention. From geometric patterns, the apes ski patterns, artistic style patterns that look like a painting, and beautiful autumn/winter florals. From colors for these pattern looks goes across the board from bright jewel tones to dulled down hues.

Trend 8: Dulled Down Colors
Dulled down or “off toned” colors is popular this year on the runways. From Rust Red, Burnt Orange, Faded Mustard Yellow, and Olive-Hunter Green, Dusty Browns, and so on. The faded dulled down colors is a style that also fits great with the dark moody academia look. Layer the textures with leather, knit, suede, and so forth.

Trend 9: Midi
Midi length skirts are once again back and this style is perfect in patterns, knits, and color hues mentioned above. The Midi skirt can be styled in more professional tailored looks or layered in a more 1920’s modest style. My favorite way to wear a midi skirt for Autumn is with a knitted sweater - belted - with a nice pair of dull brown leather knee high boots.

What I Truly Bought From The Nordstrom Sale

The Nordstrom Sale is about to open to the public which is when everything will start selling out - luckily, this year the Sale has constantly had a steady amount of restocks and not a lot of sell outs - there’s still Barefoot Dreams in stock, Spanx Leggings, and the trendy Knee High Boots are still in stock in lots of sizes + colors!

I was of course able to shop the sale early via online (the nearest Nordstrom is 5 hours away) - I was able to purchase 95% of the items I wanted (3 items sold out before I was able - Fendi Sunglasses, Free People Sweater in size XS, and Treasure & Bond $25 hat).

Below is my round up of what I truly purchased from the Anniversary Sale - I’ll also indicate if I kept the item or had to return it (I did sub sizes in a few items I wasn’t sure of).

Also the Shopping Widget houses each exact item - clicking that item and shopping through that affiliate link I’ll make a small commission at NO additional cost to you! It’s how I fund my blogging.

Shop The Post:

A few of these items are actually gifts - the Barefoot Dreams cardigan is for my mom this Christmas along with the perfume that’s in the Donna Karen Deodorant set. All the fashion pieces I’m trying out and not sure how they’ll fit - except the PJ (I’ve owned these pj’s before and highly recommend them).
Currently: Returning the Free People sweater (too big DEFINITELY size down), keeping the Pj’s, keeping the cardigan (tts), floral dress I'm debating on (fits TTS but is a bit long on me - would require heels), and the rest of the fashion pieces haven’t arrived yet.

For accessories most are items I 100% plan to keep. The only items I’m not sure on is the sunglasses; in a previous Nsale I ordered some Quay Sunglasses and they were WAY too big for my head - UPDATE: these arrived 5 minutes before my post launched and sadly I’m returning them (Bryce said they’re way too large and look like cartoon glasses!). I’m also returning the Kendra Scott Earrings, they felt so so SO cheaply made and they made a strange rattle sound every time I would turn my head.

When it comes to the beauty items I’m keeping everything - these are items I’ve had on my shopping list to purchase anyways.

I also ordered 2 of the ankle boots and the mules I only ordered in 1 size UPDATE: Mules fit TTS and I’m keeping! The Marc Fisher boots in the cream white color fits TTS and I’m waiting on the Vince Camuto boots to arrive for comparison. The adidas Luxe sneakers fit TTS but if you go up a half size they’ll most likely still fit; I ordered both 7.5 and 8 - both sizes fit perfectly.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THESE ITEMS IN PERSON HOP OVER TO MY IG STORIES! I HAVE A HIGHLIGHT TAB WHERE I’LL SHOW ALL THESE PIECES AND MORE DETAILS ON FIT, QUALITY, AND DETAILING. IG: https://www.instagram.com/brittmcadenmills/

The benefit of Nordstrom is its always Free shipping and Free returns. That’s typically why I order multiple sizes and items I’m unsure of - I order anyways because there’s that comfort of their incredible return policy.

I hope this blog post helps you decide what to purchase from the Nordstrom Sale and give you some ideas of what to shop for. If you’re not following my social media pages please do! I plan the second half of this year to get back into doing giveaways and being more active on all my social handles.

The 411 on Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021

Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale is THE biggest sale of the year and it’s quickly approaching! First off, lets get those important dates:

- I need to quickly touch base that Early Access Dates July 12th -27th to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is for Nordstrom Debit/Credit Card members ONLY. This gives Card Members the opportunity to shop the sale before the General Public. Opening a card isn't hard. You can do it online, over the phone or in-store. There's also other amazing perks with a Nordstrom Card. If you're considering a new card I highly recommend - its the ONLY Credit Card I use.

So here’s the 411, Previous Nordstrom Anniversary Sales have been a jaw dropper. From Tory Burch tote bags, T3 Micro blow dryers, Vince Camuto knee high leather boots, BeautyBio GloPro kits and many Elite High-End brands (Burberry, Chloe, Michele Watches, and more). Then of course many well known + the in-house Nordstrom brands like BP., Leith, Moonlight, TopShop, Madewell, Barefoot Dreams, etc.

The sale is popular for featuring all the new Autumn/Winter merchandise at amazing discounted prices for a short period of time. AKA: you'll get to purchase the new trends before it hits the shelves.

Visit the website to get the full calendar, sneak peek on what to expect on the racks, and special “Virtual & In-Store Event" dates that the stores are hosting during this amazing sale!

New and exciting Anniversary perks for 2021!

~ This year the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale will have over 100+ new brands joining! IVL Collective, BDG Urban Outfitters, Dyson, Club Monaco, and more!

FAQ SECTION:

FAQ: If you're not a card member but visit the store, find something you love, will they hold the item till Public Access?

NO. The items are first come. If you see something that's at an amazing price the sales associate will mention you can open a Nordstrom Card and if accepted on the spot (and its the tier status for you to shop) - you'll be able to purchase.

FAQ: Do they do restock?

No one is for sure. Last year as items were being returned, they were quickly restocked. The sizes in items they predict will be popular typically have larger quantities available and some items it will be a very limited size run.

FAQ: Am I able to return these items to store?

Yes, In store purchases can be returned In-Store or at an NordstromRack.

Online purchases & App purchases can be returned for FREE online OR In-store at a Nordstrom or NordstromRack location.

Keep the receipt so you can get a full refund.

FAQ: I have a card, can I redeem my Nordstrom Notes towards the purchase I make?

YES! This is one of the best parts about the sale! You can use your Nordstrom Notes toward your purchases. You can also use your Double Points Day when purchasing during the sale (so collect extra points for faster Notes!) I'm a few points away from another Nordstrom Note and Level upgrade so I'm definitely taking part in this opportunity too.

FAQ: Will you be attending any of the Special CardMember Events in store?

At the moment, no. The part of Florida I live at theres no local Nordstrom location; I can only purchase online. The nearest store for me is 6 hours away. I will be shopping Influencer Early Access and I will have my 'top picks' post asap! For 2021 theyll be hosting some Virtual Events which I hope to sign up for and participate in.

I WILL be visiting The Streets at Southpoint Nordstrom on July 6 to see if theres any in-store previews.

FAQ: What type of Sales Coverage will you be doing during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

Since I’ll be unable to attend and shop via In-Store I’ll be creating content like this pictured below for the Anniversary Sale. I’ll also link the items to my LTK page. From time to time - I’ll repost the content to my social media platforms (IG, LTK, Facebook, Twitter, and here on my Blog) with affiliate links you can click and directly shop the entire Nordstrom website!

Of course with LTK I’ll make a small commission at NO additional cost to you - this will be my way of scouting out the most trending and popular Autumn/Winter fashions the Anniversary Sale has to offer and I’ll do this for Restocks, My Picks, Daily Deals and more!

* Shopping the Nordstrom App will NOT work with my LTK links. I’ll only make commission on my affiliate links via shopping the LTK app, or through desktop via the linktree located in my IG Bio OR on my Blog!*

FAQ: Where's the catalog to view some of the items?

Here. You can see some of the brands and trends. But remember the catalog is just a sample!

More Tips:

1. Create a Wish List. I normally create mine in the Notes section of my phone and laptop so when I’m looking at the Nordstrom Sale Preview I can highlight what brands and items I like. This also helps me budget for the event. Below is an example of what my Wish List is for this year.

Wish List:

- Jewelry (statement earrings or Necklace).

- Lucky Brand shoes (My Lucky Brand boots are my most favorite).

- Autumn Floral Dresses.

- High Waisted Pants (Leith or Madewell).

- Longchamp or Tory Burch handbag.

- Beauty brands: Charlotte Tilbury, Mario Badescu, BeautyBio, La Mer, Paula’s Choice, and St Tropez.

- Hair styling Blow Dryer.

- Home decor (new bedding, unique kitchen gadgets).

2. Scope out the Nordstrom store and see what sizing you are in the brands. I typically try on a few brands in pants, dresses, workout gear and the shoes (Vince Camuto, Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, Adidas, Nike, and Tory Burch). I jot all the sizes down in my phone or notebook so I’ll know what to grab up when shopping the event! I personally feel Nordstroms sizing chart is spot on but I have experienced some shoes in different brands fit bigger or smaller. Also, I'm NO WHERE near a Nordstrom store. I do all my purchases online so typically, I'm shopping brands I'm accustomed to.

3. Don’t forget to set up and stick to a budget on how much you wish to spend. The biggest takeaway is this is just “stuff” and no one should be maxing out credit cards for trendy fashion pieces. I simply cover the Anniversary sale because I love amazing deals, beautiful fashion, and I simply enjoy doing what I do.

4. Many take this opportunity to stock up on Holiday gifts. It’s such a perfect time to grab up gifts if you’re already shopping for the holiday or have a budget in mind on gifting. For me, I always grab up extra beauty items and simple stocking stuffer type items to stock pile for last minute gifts.

My question to everyone: Are you shopping the sale? Anything in particular you hope to find? How many boxes do you plan to hide from your husband?

Fall Pieces You Already Own

With Autumn just around the corner a lot of us ladies are preparing for a Autumn wardrobe. We’re scrolling on Pinterest for outfit ideas, constantly checking our favorite store websites to get the newest looks to showcase on our blogs, and creating new trendy posts with catchy quotes to draw attention. But I’m a blogger on a budget. Dumping my entire wardrobe for a new one isn’t going to happen. And my financial state isn’t built for new wardrobe shopping sprees. Luckily, there’s many items from previous years that always makes a reappearance. Today’s post is giving the run down on wardrobe pieces that never go out of style for Autumn that you can wear year after year and still be “on trend”.

- Plaids. Plaids will forever be a ‘it piece’. This very versatile garment can be worn countless ways and the colors of plaids always seem to return year after year with little amount of changes.

- Dark Denim. Dark denim is a staple for the cooler months. Any shades ranging from dark blue, dark grey, or black. You will always see this trend.

- Trench Coats. This look is a classic. Audrey Hepburn yelling “cat” in an alley or Serena Van Der Woodsen rocking her Burberry on the way to school. Colors like tan, cream, dark green, navy or black. Each year this coat is in trend and the perfect way to shake things up is with new accessories.

Simple plaid. You can wear this look so many ways and the colors are always a classic staple.
Trench coats are literally the best. They are timeless, easy to wear, and can be dressed up or dressed down.
- Boots. Boots are that one shoe that if treated kindly, can last a long time. And boot trends don’t change often either. You’ll always have the ankle boot, mid-boot, knee high’s, and equestrian style. And the colors always stay in the lines of cognac, chocolate brown, black. I have a pair of Ralph Lauren equestrian boots from 5 years ago and I still get compliments on them.

- Simple cozy sweaters. You know what I’m talking about. That sweater in creamy winter white, blush, hunter green, or soft grey. And that sweater feels like a blanket. These beauties are so perfect when it’s cool out and you’re drinking Starbucks but also a trend that keeps coming back.

- Knee high socks. I felt this is one of the best accessory pieces to mention. Each year I always see the same exact style of knee-high wool socks. These socks go so well with cozy sweaters and boots. This accessory trend will not fall out of style anytime soon.
the perfect cozy sweater. In the early fall you can wear with shorts and in the winter leggings and boots!
Boots + Boot Socks combo!
