My Nordstrom Sale Purchases [So Far]

Hey guys! Here is my online purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! To explain why its all online orders - Sadly I live about 4 hours (one way) from a Nordstrom location. To shop the event I have to make all my purchases via the online website. I love Nordstrom does free shipping and returns to help customers like me who live afar but love the brand - the fulfillment center is shipping items quicker than ever and in case of returns, they'll instantly do restocks too!

Shoes: I always try to buy at least one pair of shoes during the Nordstrom Sale for the price. Getting new styles on deep discount is a win-win for me.

This year the sneakers I wanted sold out (but I'm waiting for restocks!). I grabbed these Birkenstock Sandals because I’ve never owned a pair of Birks and really wanted to see how comfortable the shoes are. These brown loafers are from Dr Scholls and I KNOW - isn’t that a older person brand…? But they have comfort fit foam soles and I’m hoping these will be the ‘it’ shoe for dressing up while I’m in Japan! I also caved and grabbed a pair of the Steve Madden Mules cause in past years this style has been a top seller. I also grabbed a pair of Barefoot Dreams Socks - I’ve never owned a pair and would love to see what the hype is about!

Dresses: Now the green tank dress from Moon River is actually not in the Anniversary Sale - I wanted to grab this up for my Japan trip and I hope the dress fits for my vision I have in mind. I also grabbed up this other Moon River dress in this lovely bronze-like gold color - I’m truly so excited to see how this fits. The mid-length leaf pattern dress is a bit of a wild card but I like the ‘idea’ of this dress for autumn winter with a trench coat. And lastly the chocolate color Nordstrom Dress is so lovely and I’m excited to see how it fits too with a pair of knee length boots.

Tops: Tops I went a little wild. The green Zella top I was so excited for but sadly it might be a return due to the sleeves. I’ll have to see in person if I like the fit. The Red sweater from Madewell is so pretty and comes in LOTS of colors. I wanted a red sweater for Christmas and this might be the one!

The longline Top Shop cardigan I saw on an influencer and I will admit (she influenced me) so I hope it works out! Treasure and Bond is always a favorite of mine so I ordered 2 turtle necks (green and off white). This other Longline Cardigan from Open Edit I saw last minute and felt “why not”. If the longline TopShop is a fail this one is under $50 and is very pretty too. Free People always sells out quickly in sweaters but shockingly I was able to grab up a chunky mustard/pumpkin color tone. Its very ‘Fall-like’ and I’m crossing my fingers its a keeper. Another adorable Madewell sweater cardigan and I’m thinking this will be cute paired with some tailored pants and has that 'style' of sweater I was wanting for some of my midi-skirts. Lastly a chocolate brown Top Shop half zip sweater. I wanted this in another color way but it sold out and I’m thinking the brown tone might workout for me.

For now, this is all I plan to order. Once all my items arrive I’ll showcase them all on LTK Page and Instagram Page for Public Access shoppers. Depending on the amount of free time I have in NC I might go in person to a Nordstrom to check for the sneakers I wanted and to see if there’s anything different that wasn’t in stock online.

Let me know which is your favorites from my selections!

Don’t forget to follow my Instagram for the try on - items are arriving as early as tomorrow! YAY!

Autumn- Winter 2021 Trends Report

Ah, Autumn. The crisp cool chill of the morning, the crunching sound of leaves as you walk, and the warm fragrant smell of cinnamon, apple, and spice. All you need is the perfect cozy outfit for the ultimate autumnal aesthetic. Today’s blog post is all about the trends for Autumn/Winter fashion. These trends are all over the A/W runway shows and a sure sign the retailers will be recreating these looks and aesthetics for their shop windows.

I also wanted to mention the research I did for these trends was through Harpers Bazar, Vogue, and looking a luxury retailers + runway shows.

At the bottom of this post will be a shopping widget where you can see some of the affordable options I found of each trend from popular retailers.

Trend 1: Sticking with the Classics
All the trends you know are timeless and never falling out of style - perfect for Autumn. This is those little black dresses, the classic long  trench coats, wool knits, and boots.

Trend 2: Tailored Made
There’s a huge ‘tailored’ style that started trending awhile back and is currently on the runways. From matching pants and blazers, tailored suit coats, pleated paints with silk button down shirts, also don’t shy away from the matching skirt and jacket. The power suits are here.

Trend 3: Apres SKI
Apres ski is an easy and fun look to do in the winter months. Its also a style you will be able to find literally anywhere this winter. From fun knitted pattern sweaters with the indoor or outdoor ski lodge feel. If bright reds and navy blues aren’t your thing - winter whites and soft grays will work well too. Also don’t forget the fun wool ski socks, hats and mitten, and furry slippers are perfectly acceptable for the apres ski look!

Trend 4: Knitwear With A Kick
Knitwear is always in style each winter but this year try grabbing up the balloon sleeve knits or the knits with pomp pomp or sequins. If you’re feeling really brave, a knit midi skirt or pants. That extra kick is hot and trending. Also oversized knit sweaters with leggings and boots. For colors it’s a cross the board from bright jewel tones or dulled down neutrals.

Trend 5: Roaring Cool Girls 20’s
This trend is all about the Roaring 20’s nod but in a cool girl modern take. Flapper style dresses with lace detailing but a ‘cool girl’ leather jacket or biker boots. Fun sequins, pearls, and other details are included. It’s a fun look where you can mix and match eras plus play it up with that 20’s-80’s-90’s rich girl vibe.

Trend 6: Puffers
Puffer coats are here again for 2021. These coats also give a great nod to the ski aesthetic but the difference is any color is acceptable, and the size of the puff is whatever you’re comfortable with - also puffer style handbags are trending too!

Trend 7: Patterns
The patterns for this A/W is bold and commanding attention. From geometric patterns, the apes ski patterns, artistic style patterns that look like a painting, and beautiful autumn/winter florals. From colors for these pattern looks goes across the board from bright jewel tones to dulled down hues.

Trend 8: Dulled Down Colors
Dulled down or “off toned” colors is popular this year on the runways. From Rust Red, Burnt Orange, Faded Mustard Yellow, and Olive-Hunter Green, Dusty Browns, and so on. The faded dulled down colors is a style that also fits great with the dark moody academia look. Layer the textures with leather, knit, suede, and so forth.

Trend 9: Midi
Midi length skirts are once again back and this style is perfect in patterns, knits, and color hues mentioned above. The Midi skirt can be styled in more professional tailored looks or layered in a more 1920’s modest style. My favorite way to wear a midi skirt for Autumn is with a knitted sweater - belted - with a nice pair of dull brown leather knee high boots.

What I Truly Bought From The Nordstrom Sale

The Nordstrom Sale is about to open to the public which is when everything will start selling out - luckily, this year the Sale has constantly had a steady amount of restocks and not a lot of sell outs - there’s still Barefoot Dreams in stock, Spanx Leggings, and the trendy Knee High Boots are still in stock in lots of sizes + colors!

I was of course able to shop the sale early via online (the nearest Nordstrom is 5 hours away) - I was able to purchase 95% of the items I wanted (3 items sold out before I was able - Fendi Sunglasses, Free People Sweater in size XS, and Treasure & Bond $25 hat).

Below is my round up of what I truly purchased from the Anniversary Sale - I’ll also indicate if I kept the item or had to return it (I did sub sizes in a few items I wasn’t sure of).

Also the Shopping Widget houses each exact item - clicking that item and shopping through that affiliate link I’ll make a small commission at NO additional cost to you! It’s how I fund my blogging.

Shop The Post:

A few of these items are actually gifts - the Barefoot Dreams cardigan is for my mom this Christmas along with the perfume that’s in the Donna Karen Deodorant set. All the fashion pieces I’m trying out and not sure how they’ll fit - except the PJ (I’ve owned these pj’s before and highly recommend them).
Currently: Returning the Free People sweater (too big DEFINITELY size down), keeping the Pj’s, keeping the cardigan (tts), floral dress I'm debating on (fits TTS but is a bit long on me - would require heels), and the rest of the fashion pieces haven’t arrived yet.

For accessories most are items I 100% plan to keep. The only items I’m not sure on is the sunglasses; in a previous Nsale I ordered some Quay Sunglasses and they were WAY too big for my head - UPDATE: these arrived 5 minutes before my post launched and sadly I’m returning them (Bryce said they’re way too large and look like cartoon glasses!). I’m also returning the Kendra Scott Earrings, they felt so so SO cheaply made and they made a strange rattle sound every time I would turn my head.

When it comes to the beauty items I’m keeping everything - these are items I’ve had on my shopping list to purchase anyways.

I also ordered 2 of the ankle boots and the mules I only ordered in 1 size UPDATE: Mules fit TTS and I’m keeping! The Marc Fisher boots in the cream white color fits TTS and I’m waiting on the Vince Camuto boots to arrive for comparison. The adidas Luxe sneakers fit TTS but if you go up a half size they’ll most likely still fit; I ordered both 7.5 and 8 - both sizes fit perfectly.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THESE ITEMS IN PERSON HOP OVER TO MY IG STORIES! I HAVE A HIGHLIGHT TAB WHERE I’LL SHOW ALL THESE PIECES AND MORE DETAILS ON FIT, QUALITY, AND DETAILING. IG: https://www.instagram.com/brittmcadenmills/

The benefit of Nordstrom is its always Free shipping and Free returns. That’s typically why I order multiple sizes and items I’m unsure of - I order anyways because there’s that comfort of their incredible return policy.

I hope this blog post helps you decide what to purchase from the Nordstrom Sale and give you some ideas of what to shop for. If you’re not following my social media pages please do! I plan the second half of this year to get back into doing giveaways and being more active on all my social handles.
